Stacy Ingham teaches Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga in the tradition of the late Sri K Pattabhi Jois, and the Moon Sequence from Matthew Sweeney's Vinyasa Krama. Ashtanga Yoga of Cary (AYC) encompasses classes Stacy teaches at studios in Cary and Apex, NC. A variety of classes are available from introductory/led classes to a fully accessible Mysore program open to all levels and abilities. Schedule Updates for the New Year

No Classes this weekend - January 1 - January 3, 2011

The Schedule to the right is effective January 6, 2011.

Beginning January 6, 2011 - Thursdays 11:30-1pm Ashtanga Guided practice is cancelled.

Beginning January 7, 2011 - First Friday Moon at the Blue! The first Friday of each month, I'll be teaching a Guided Moon Sequence class at Blue Lotus in Raleigh. See you at the Blue!

Beginning January 8, 2011 - Saturday mornings 9-11am Mysore at AYC. Pay what you like - suggested donation $10-15. Space limited - contact me to reserve a spot - inghamsk@gmail.com or 919-880-9409

Beginning January 9, 2011 - Sunday mornings at Evolve Movement - Namaste in Cary will be: 8:30-10:00am Ashtanga guided practice; 10:30-12:00 Guided Moon Sequence.

Beginning January 10, 2011 - Monday mornings in January Only - 5:45-7am Yoga for Athletes - I'll be subbing for Chris Newport at Evolve Movement - Namaste in Cary. Come join me to start your day off right!

Guided Moon Sequence Friday December 3; 7pm at Blue Lotus in Raleigh

Come enjoy The Moon Sequence as developed by Matthew Sweeney this Friday evening at Blue Lotus in Raleigh from 7-8:30pm. Make an evening of it and stay downtown afterward to enjoy First Friday festivities during this glorious holiday season!

Class Descriptions

Ashtanga Level 1/2: Students are led through Sun Salutations, Standing poses, and the first half of the seated poses of Primary Series, followed by backbends as appropriate, and closing sequence. Appropriate for those with some vinyasa experience.

Ashtanga Level 2/3: Students are led through most of the Primary Series practice, stopping to discuss or introduce techniques as needed. Appropriate for those with experience in Ashtanga yoga, either mysore style or led classes.

Led Primary Series: Students are led through the entire Primary Series practice, including Sun Salutations, Standing, Seated, Backbending and closing. Appropriate for those with experience in Ashtanga yoga, either mysore style or led classes.

Mysore: Self-paced practice. Students commit the Ashtanga practice to memory, and practice at their own pace, with teacher guidance. Appropriate for all levels, new beginners to advanced.

Moon Sequence:

The Moon Sequence was developed by Matthew Sweeney as a complement to the Ashtanga Primary Series. It is appropriate to do this practice on New Moon, and Full Moon days, as well as those days when your energy is flagging. This series shifts the focus of practice from upper body to lower body and core, giving the shoulders and wrists a break, and going deep into the hips and sacrum with grounding energy and innovative backbends. The closing sequence is restorative and lovely, resetting the body for what lies ahead.
