Ashtanga Yoga of Cary (AYC) encompasses classes Stacy teaches at studios in Cary and Apex, NC. A variety of classes are available from introductory/led classes to a fully accessible Mysore program open to all levels and abilities. Guided Moon Sequence in October

There are several opportunities this month to experience the Moon Sequence as developed by Matthew Sweeney:

Class Descriptions

Ashtanga Level 1/2: Students are led through Sun Salutations, Standing poses, and the first half of the seated poses of Primary Series, followed by backbends as appropriate, and closing sequence. Appropriate for those with some vinyasa experience.

Ashtanga Level 2/3: Students are led through most of the Primary Series practice, stopping to discuss or introduce techniques as needed. Appropriate for those with experience in Ashtanga yoga, either mysore style or led classes.

Led Primary Series: Students are led through the entire Primary Series practice, including Sun Salutations, Standing, Seated, Backbending and closing. Appropriate for those with experience in Ashtanga yoga, either mysore style or led classes.

Mysore: Self-paced practice. Students commit the Ashtanga practice to memory, and practice at their own pace, with teacher guidance. Appropriate for all levels, new beginners to advanced.

Moon Sequence:

The Moon Sequence was developed by Matthew Sweeney as a complement to the Ashtanga Primary Series. It is appropriate to do this practice on New Moon, and Full Moon days, as well as those days when your energy is flagging. This series shifts the focus of practice from upper body to lower body and core, giving the shoulders and wrists a break, and going deep into the hips and sacrum with grounding energy and innovative backbends. The closing sequence is restorative and lovely, resetting the body for what lies ahead.
